Advanced Financial Management
Question: Talk about the Advanced Financial Management. Answer: Presentation There are two essential strategies being utilized in the examination and choice of the stocks to be specific major and specialized (Schlichting, 2013). This report is set up to talk about different parts of key and specialized examinations. There have been made two portfolios containing 10 stocks each. The loads of one portfolio have been chosen dependent on the key examination and the supplies of other portfolio have been chosen dependent on specialized investigation. Different apparatuses and procedures inside the classifications of crucial and specialized investigation have been applied in this report. The instruments utilized under principal examination are value profit proportion, return on value, and profit yield. Further, the apparatuses utilized under specialized investigation are moving normal, line outlines, and backing and obstruction levels. Writing Review Investigation and determination of the correct stocks, which end up being commendable for the speculator, is a monotonous undertaking. The financial specialists for this reason utilize major just as specialized expository apparatuses and procedures. The major and specialized investigation covers the systematic angles comprehensively anyway still there remains the hazard. This hazard is clarified in the speculations of social money and productive market theory. The speculations of social account express that the costs of stocks are now and again influenced by the conduct impacts (Ackert and Deaves, 2009). For instance, when the securities exchange of US fallen followed by the worldwide money related emergency, the financial exchanges of different nations additionally slopped descending. This shows the social impact that when the financial specialists began selling their possessions in the US, the speculators from different nations likewise began getting out their situations in the wak e of serious misfortune. The selling pressure broke the market causing noteworthy destruction in the costs of stocks (Ackert and Deaves, 2009). Consequently, it could be noticed that when the occasions like worldwide monetary emergency experiences, even the stocks purchased thoroughly breaking down could be bring about misfortune. In the circumstance like budgetary emergency, the speculator becomes takes silly choice while selling the stocks (Baker and Nofsinger, 2010). The hypotheses of central investigation depend on the suspicion that the financial specialist consistently act soundly. In any case, the speculations of conduct fund express that the speculator could be unreasonable in the occasions like money related emergency. In this way, the perspectives removed from social money standards could appear differently in relation to the perspectives removed from the central hypotheses. Further, there is another pivotal part of venture examination that is the productive market speculation. The hypothesis of proficient market expresses that nobody can beat the market. This infers the financial specialists can not make gains by misusing the data hole in the market (Harder, 2010). The hypothesis of proficient market speculation (EMH) depends on the conviction that the securities exchange consistently stays effective. The EMH hypothesis expresses that all significant data is accessible to all the market members and the speculators act soundly. The hypothesis further expresses that the present cost influencing the securities exchange consolidates all the data and along these lines, there remains no degree to discover the underestimated or exaggerated stocks (Kurth, 2013). As indicated by EMH, the stocks exchanging on the files are reasonably valued and it is difficult to discover the underestimated or exaggerated stocks. Accordingly, the effective market hypothesis appears differently in relation to the standards of major examination. The profit markdown show and harry Markowitz hypothesis of portfolio choice recommend the essentials to register the reasonable estimations of the stocks. As indicated by these principal speculations, the stocks could be underestim ated or exaggerated and accordingly, the financial specialist can make benefits by discovering the underestimated stocks and selling them in future at the significant expenses (Kurth, 2013). The advocates of the EMH guarantee that it is wastage of time to look and discover the underestimated stocks utilizing principal examination or to foresee the future pattern utilizing specialized investigation. Be that as it may, the productive market hypothesis is censured and its down to earth application is addressed (Kurth, 2013). There are individuals, for example, Warren Buffet who have indicated that the productive market hypothesis is wrong by beating the market on numerous events. Further, the supposition of EMH that data is accessible to all the market members consistently likewise doesn't have all the earmarks of being fitting. Along these lines, it could be deduced that regardless of being there EMH and conduct impacts, the basic and specialized investigates holds significance for the speculators (Kurth, 2013). Justification and Methodology The philosophy implies the general methodology utilized by the analyst in gathering the information and examining the equivalent to make out significant ends. It is significant for the analyst to embrace reasonable philosophy to do the examination work the correct way (Phillips and Stawarski, 2016). The present report intends to examine two portfolios, one framed dependent on essential investigation and the other dependent on specialized examination. For this reason, 20 stocks have been chosen for two portfolios each containing 10 stocks. The stocks chose for central portfolio depended on the parameters like net revenue, return on value, profit yield, and cost to income proportion. Then again, the stocks including the specialized portfolio were chosen dependent on the pattern investigation by line diagram, examination of moving normal, and the investigation of help and obstruction levels. The rundown of stocks included in two portfolios is given in the addendum 1. The index shows name of the organization alongside the purposes behind its choice. Concerning the basic portfolio, the stocks, for example, Singtel (Singapore Communications Limited) and StarHub Limited were chosen dependent on the high overall revenue and exceptional yield on value individually. Singtel is acquiring an overall revenue of 23.25% while Starhub is giving an amazing profit for value of 178.51% (Appendix-1). Further, stocks, for example, Sembcorp Marine Ltd and Wilmar International Limited were seen as with low cost to book esteem proportion, which portrays plausibility of increment in cost in future. The supplies of specialized portfolio were chosen by breaking down the pattern in verifiable costs. Examination of Singapore Airlines Ltds stock cost is portrayed in the outline given beneath: Figure 1: Singapore Airlines Daily Price Movement [Source: https://in.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=C6L.SI] It could be seen that the days cost of stock is indicating rising pattern which shows stocks potential to give significant yields in present moment. Further, different stocks were additionally investigated for pattern to settle on definite decision about their determination. Results and Analysis Investigation of one Stock from Fundamental Portfolio The most ordinarily utilized central stock assessment strategies are profit rebate model and PE Multiple model. The stock in particular Starhub Limited has been investigated as under applying these strategies: Profit Discount Model The profit rebate model is utilized to process the reasonable estimation of the stock. As profit markdown model, the stock is exaggerated. PE Multiple Model PE Multiple is additionally used to process reasonable estimation of the stock utilizing profit per offer and industry PE proportion (Madura, 2014): PE Multiple Model: Starhub Limited Industry PE proportion 5.1 EPS of Starhub Limited 0.2 Natural Value 1.02 The consequences of PE Multiple Model show that the reasonable estimation of the stock is S$1.02 which is lower than the market cost of S$2.83 overall as on November 28, 2016. According to PE Multiple, the stock is underestimated. Investigation of one Stock from Technical Portfolio Three procedures, for example, line diagram, moving normal, and backing and opposition levels have been utilized to examine one of the specialized portfolio stocks to be specific Singapore Airlines Ltd. Line Chart: Figure 2: Stock of Price Trend Analysis The line outline introduced above shows authentic pattern in the stocks cost for the period starting from November 28, 2016 to January 06, 2017. It could be seen that the cost of stock was high toward the start anyway it decreased in December 2016. Further, in the period of January the pattern was watched changing as the cost began rising once more. The signs of ascend in the cost in the underlying long stretches of January proposed that the stock merits contributing. Moving Average: The basic moving normal of Singapore Airlines Ltds costs registered over the recorded period starting from November 28, 2016 and finishing on January 06, 2017 has been seen as S$9.57 (Refer Excel). Dark Math and The Labyrinth Inner and Outer Chaos in The Confusions of Young Torless - Literature Essay Samples
Robert Musilââ¬â¢s The Confusions of Young Tà ¶rless stresses the synchronicity between inner and outer chaos. Mystery and enigmatic disorder overshadow the narrative as the young adolescent, Torless, struggles with his identity and the world around him. In symbolism, school and sexuality, other irrational unknowns appear which confound his efforts at clarity. At school, Torless is bewildered in mathematics class as he grapples with advanced theories such as imaginary numbers, irrational numbers and infinity. ââ¬Å"Captivated by the problem of infinity, his interest turns to the mathematics class where he is even more puzzled by the problem of ââ¬Ëimaginaren Zahlen or imaginary numbersââ¬â¢ (Goldgar 126). Convoluted formulas and riddling concepts plague his mind as he attempts to calculate and solve these coded puzzles. Even when he approaches his mathematics instructor, seeking answers, he obtains none. In his math text, the ââ¬Å"parentheses and footnotes (are) incomprehensible to him, it was as if some aged, bony hand were twisting and screwing his brain out of his head.â⬠(Musil 50). In the subconscious, his futile strivings in arithmetic run parallel to his personal psychology as he attempts to solve his own identity. Goldgar expresses that the imaginary numbers which he encounters become synonymous with the stormy inter nal forces that rages, and symbolising the unconscious. Another symbol equating to Torlessââ¬â¢ wonder is the infinity sign. This sign captures the mystery of divinity an incomprehensible element. In one instance, Torless says to himself, ââ¬Ëit just keeps going on and on forever into infinityââ¬â¢ keeping his eyes fixed on the sky. Torlessââ¬â¢ utter amazement at God and the spiritual world equals to manââ¬â¢s historic pursuit of meaning through religion even stargazing. Another commentator mentions that ââ¬Å"Torless speculates about the bewildering, contradictory nature of infinity as a working formula and as a general numerical concept. He is also concerned with the double aspect and the seemingly irrational nature of negative numbersâ⬠(Stopp 101). In sum, the infinity sign stand for the transcendent unknown to which man, in his own fallibility and finite understanding, is powerless to penetrate. It is incalculable, irrational and surpasses the bounds of the mind. Musil employs the labyrinth as an imagery confirming the dark and ominous distortions of Torlessââ¬â¢ mind. As one of his friends, Beineberg, speaks to him, his communication resemble ââ¬Å"words . trailing on and on, like an endless road of a thousand meanderings, leading no one knew whereâ⬠(Musil 68). He can hardly understand that thought pattern of his friend. The labyrinth holds a predominant position in Greco-Roman lore replete with bleak, serpentine passageways, blind turns and narrow, perilous alleys. Fittingly, Torless enters a dark bar and climbs a wooden staircase, narrow and twisting leading up to the first floor (Musil 22). Later on, as he discovers his friendââ¬â¢s criminal escapades, he imagines the confused outcasts of the world ââ¬Å"debauched and filthy, wandering in labyrinthine passages full of roaring voicesâ⬠(Musil 34). The labyrinth structure attests to mental chaos, perpetual wanderings and hopelessness. Even as Torless becomes sexually conscious, the concept of the labyrinth absorbs his experience, connoting his agonising conflict in identity. He grows used to hoping for extraordinary, hidden discoveries and in the process, he had been led into the narrow, twisting chambers of sensualityâ⬠(Musil 129). His sexual innocence becomes tarnished as he explores in prostitution and even homosexuality. His curiosity misleads him to further degradation as demonstrated in ââ¬Ëtwistedââ¬â¢ practices such as sadism. The all-male environment at military school combined with a decadent urbanity initiates Torless into an unorthodox sexuality. Gendered lines of distinction become blurred and as literary critic Elizabeth Stopp proposes, ââ¬Å"Torlessââ¬â¢ confusions are partly in the erotic sphere and partly in the intellect (Stopp 101). His sexual fantasies and trysts eventually erode at the fabric of his mind. He feels ââ¬Å"torn between two worlds, one that was solidly respectable in which everything took place in regular and rational ways, and a world of adventure, full of darkness, mystery, blood and unimagined surprises (Musil 44). The dark and cryptic labyrinth and inexplicable unknown numbers cloud Torlessââ¬â¢ mind to the point that his ââ¬Å"written words remained dead, a series of sullen, long-familiar question marksâ⬠(Musil 138). His dismal ponderings, solitude, and explorations in the underworld take him on a clandestine journey which defeats any valid explanation. In his quest for answers and even self-discovery, ââ¬Å"there always remained a dividing line which retreated like a horizon from his yearning the closer he came to it,â⬠pointing to the elusiveness of the answers to the questions burning in his soul. Perception Of Blind And Fair Justice - 1688 Words
Despite the appealing notion of blind and fair justice, many question the existence of this ideal in reality ââ¬â and rightly so. Many of the challenges to lawââ¬â¢s claim of impartiality concern the influence of social characteristics such as race or sex when they should be irrelevant. Marc Galanter introduces a more structural argument, related to the frequency with which one litigates, bringing disputes before a court. Galanter claims that those who regularly engage in similar litigation, whom he labels ââ¬Å"repeat playersâ⬠(RPs) have multiple advantages over ââ¬Å"one-shottersâ⬠(OSs), who rarely enter the forum of law, where courts interpret and apply official rules to settle disputes, in their ability to achieve desired legal outcomes. The fact thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Though not all repeat players are necessarily societyââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"havesâ⬠ââ¬â some of the residents of the urban neighborhood studied by Sally Engle Merry are example s of exceptions ââ¬â in American society, most are. One often thinks of ââ¬Å"havesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"have notsâ⬠in terms of material differences, but where Galanter adds the most value to the discussion of inequality is his explanation of the more dynamic advantages that come from more frequent legal engagement and which continually reinforce this inequality. Part of Galanterââ¬â¢s project in identifying the mechanism behind systematic biases in the courts is his desire to prescribe potential avenues for reform. It is not only important to recognize that the haves come out ahead but also why they do. Though he does discuss tangible differences in resources, including access to specialized knowledge, those factors alone can miss the less tangible benefits that certain parties enjoy. For example, due to their ongoing contact with the court, RPs uniquely have the opportunity to become more embedded in the community of legal actors and build social capital through these informal relationships. Though Eisenstein, Flemming, and Nardulli specifically study county criminal courts in their study, their observations of the unique cultures of court communities can extend to the forum of law more broadly. They note that membership in such a community allows for trust to be established and ââ¬Å"creditâ⬠to be built. In the

Communication and Leadership over the Worldââ¬Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: How Do Communication and Leadership over the World? Answer: Introducation In every business organization all over the world, a deep relationship can be seen between the aspects of communication and leadership. It has been seen all over the world that the effective leaders have six basic functions in the business organizations; they are leading, planning, organizing, staffing, controlling and communication (Bearman et al. 2012). Among all these six aspects, communication is considered as the golden thread that ties all the six aspects together. Hence, it can be said that clear communication is one of the major aspects of leadership. To be able to communicate clearly is the major trait of an effective leader. In order to be a successful leader, the focus must be on three elements; they are mission, people and teamwork. The process of effective communication positively affects all these three aspects. The first aspect is mission that sounds like a military kind of word. A clear mission is required to achieve the objective of the organization. It is the respon sibility of the leaders of the business organization to communicate the mission, vision, aim and objective of the businesses to the employees or the subordinates. For this regard, the leader needs to adopt a proper communication technique within the business organization and the communication technique must be effective. It is the duty of the leaders to ensure that all the necessary aspects about the objective of the business are properly communicated to the employees; this process assists in the process of prioritization of the tasks (Brandts, Cooper and Weber 2014). The second aspect is people and this is the most important aspect of the business organizations as the success of the businesses vastly depends on them. It is the responsibility of the leaders to make the employees prepare about what is coming. It is also the responsibility of the leaders to provide the necessary tools to the employees to fight with the upcoming uncertainties. In this process, communication plays an important part (Hackman and Johnson 2013). With the help of proper communication strategy, the organizational leaders use to commutate all the upcoming obstacles of the organization with the employees and provide them with excellent training and development programs. The third aspect is teamwork. Teamwork is a must element for the success of the organization. In this regard, the leaders need to communicate all the necessary aspects with the members of the team. In addition, they also need to provide motivational speeches to make the employees motivated. Hence, from the di scussion, it can be understood that communication plays an important part in each of the three aspects. Poor communication is considered as one of the major obstacles in the way of profit maximization. One of the major aspects of communication and leadership is the good relations. It is the responsibility of the leaders to develop and maintain effective relationship with all the members of the organization with the help of proper communications strategy (Caputo and Crandall 2012). With the assistance of effective communication strategy, the organizational leaders can solve any kind of organizational problems. Thus, it can be said that communication and leadership complements each other for the success of the organization. William Shakespeare Taming of the shrew Essay Example For Students
William Shakespeare Taming of the shrew Essay On Thursday 22nd May, I saw a performance of William Shakespeares Taming of the shrew. It was a matinee performance and took place in the Royal Shakespeare theatre, in Stratford upon Avon. The play is about a father (Baptista) with two daughters, Katherine and Bianca. Bianca is sweet and well behaved, and there are lots of men that want to marry her, but her father wont let her get married until he can find a husband for Katherine, who is loud, rude and bad tempered. A man called Petruchio is persuaded to marry Kate because of her money, and proceeds to try and tame her. Meanwhile a man who has fallen in love with Bianca. , Lucientio, disguises himself as her teacher so he can get to know her, and they also get married. The story ends happily when Kate, now sweet and obedient, lectures the women on the duty they have to their husbands, and kisses Petruchio. The play was staged on a Proscenium arch stage, with a screen at the back that had scenes like rain projected on it when needed. We will write a custom essay on William Shakespeare Taming of the shrew specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now There were no curtains, and a small floor space between the stage and the stalls. The orchestra were raised to the level of the boxes, stage right that was different from other theatre I have experienced, but I liked it because it meant you werent distanced from the stage. There was a slope at the back of the stage, for a lot of the play, and also several doors, some raised higher than others. These were used throughout most of the play to give the impression of the outside street, or the inside of Baptistas house. There were also two rails that could be walked along, which were raised for most of the performance. For the start of the play the set remained like this for a while, with moving swirls as the backdrop. The big scene change was for Petruchios house, when one rail was lowered, the doors taken off and the backdrop was changed to a thunderstorm, which was effective for showing the conditions they had travelled in. The other scene changes were less dramatic, like the wedding scene, which just had the doors removed, and a scene where Bianca is out in the garden, which had the doors removed, a swing lowered centre stage and a summer backdrop. None of the set pieces were removed manually, instead being raised or lowered automatically which was great because it didnt distract from the play. Altogether the set was comparatively simple, but had all the changes they play needed.

Response of The Cost of Saving a Jumper Essay Example
Response of The Cost of Saving a Jumper Essay Example Response of The Cost of Saving a Jumper Essay Response of The Cost of Saving a Jumper Essay Chute www The Cost of Saving a Jumper In The Cost of Saving a Jumper by Joan Ryan, Ryan forthrightly exposes a current social awareness that people are simply not willing to take responsibilities while they subjectively focus on their self-interests. When looking at the article logically, Ryans argument is convenience due to her detailed evidence. Thus I agree with Ryan that many people are gradually inclined to overweight their personal cost and their foolishness to overlook others rights and needsthat have become a pervasive and calumnious behavior nowadays. There is always an inevitable contradiction between the value of lives and the cost of saving it, and indeed many Americans prefer to being more concerned about the latter, mostly because they get used to compare other people as threats, not as partners. In the article, Ryan utilizes the controversial incident about the suicide attempt in Bay Bridge that resulted in a 13 1/2 hour traffic Jam. Confronting the severe traffic congestion and financial losses, some people firmly hold their opinion hat saving a persons life is the most moral obligation for everyone. You do whatever it takes for however long it takes to prevent the suicide(par 3). Nevertheless, there are more people still ceaselessly complained that relevant authority must remove the Jumper as soon as possible principally for the sake of their convenience. The resistant Jumper might be hurt or even fail to his death in the process, but since he put himself in such a dangerous position, he is ultimately responsible for the r esult(par 4). Furthermore, in order to insist the seriousness of he cost, they further to recognize themselves as hostages and the Jumper who actually felt desperate to death as a narcissist who wants to be the center of attention(par 4). Yet it appeared that rather than trying to alleviate the intense controversy, the people seemed committing to fanning it. Unarguably, getting stuck in freeway, many people might have a knee-Jerk revulsion to the inconvenienceborne of fear of missing their appointments, Job interviews or a broader anxiety about the huge economic losses. Instead of overreaching personal cost, however, we as people ought to understand that nothing is worthier than saving a fragile life. The value of lives is equal and inestimable. Schedules and meetings can be postponed or reordered, money we can earn back sooner or later, but we are absolutely unable to retrieve our life once it was gone. Additionally, before building the bridge there was a bridge barrier proposal but it lastly failed by an overwhelming majority. The barrier was opposed because people dont want to pay for it and didnt want their views from their bridge obstructed(par 15). In retrospect, if we agreed with building airier by paying a little more taxes, the Jumper would not attempt to committed suicide in the bridge; besides, we definitely would not have a slightly possibilities to suffer such considerable loss as a result. Its a matter of responsibility. Why should we demand the Jumper ought to be responsible for his decision while we try to duck our responsibility? Weve become so accustomed to and its hardly to notice anymore. Devote to one suicide attempt. It is how do we diminish the chances that a Jumper can climb onto the bridge and stop traffic in the future. Par 14). In the wake of social responsibility, this suicide attempt case indeed became evident to us that a serious mistake has been done. Living in the world where replete with competition and pressure, we will increasingly face decisions about when to be responsible for our behavior; moreover, it is crucial that we need to comprehend more clearly about causes and overall impact?not only for extraordinary actions like Bay Area suicide issue but also for ordinary ones, like maintaining public security, voting sensibly and lending a hand to each other spontaneously.

Ethical Problems and Managerial Decision Making Research Paper
Ethical Problems and Managerial Decision Making - Research Paper Example Sometimes, making the right decision conflicts with the organization's goals. Conversely, resolving in favor of the organization may conflict with one's personal values. In recent years, both the Academy of Human Resource Development and the Academy of Management dedicated entire volumes of their journals to ethics and integrity (Veiga, 2004). The journals contain case studies about the ethical dilemmas professionals face and present guidelines for solutions. People in occupations without a formal set of ethical standards must rely on their own instincts, backgrounds, experience, and judgment to handle ethical dilemmas that arise in the course of their work lives. Leaders at various levels of organizations, large and small, face ethical dilemmas daily and must be prepared to make the right decisions for the organization and for themselves (Bass & Steidlmeier, 1999). There is a void in the empirical literature with respect to ethical decision-making because the literature on ethical decision-making has been based on hypothetical dilemmas instead of on actual situations. Decision Making Models When managers are faced with ethical dilemmas in their employing organizations, they are not always in control of the situation and often must consider other factors (e.g., employees, organizational risks, organizational pressure) in their decisions. Most of the ethical decision-making models have stemmed from the cognitive moral development theory of Kohlberg (1973). Two models that were introduced around the same time are those of Rest (1986) (Four-Component Model) and Trevino (1986) (Person-Situation Interactionist Model). Both Rest and Trevino expanded on the work of Kohlberg, and their models have been tested multiple times. Kohlberg, a social psychologist, was the first to expand Piaget's concept of stage development to include moral judgment. Moral judgment is a process of reflecting on one's values and choosing among them. Piaget, a Swiss biologist, was interested in how children reason. From his qualitative studies, he concluded that the ability to reason is age-related, and he identified cognitive stages ranging from infancy through adolescence. He studied moral judgment only in children under the age of 12 and held that cognition and affect develop separately, but in parallel ways, and that moral judgment is a cognitive process. Kohlberg's (1968) theory focuses on the moral reasoning process - how people decide which course of action to take when faced with an ethical dilemma. Using a research instrument that he developed, Kohlberg conducted a longitudinal study of 84 boys ages 10 to 16, following up at four-year intervals from 1956 to 1976. In the moral judgment interviews, Kohlberg presented the subjects with three dilemmas and asked the boys to tell what the resolution should be and why. The "why" is the determining factor for stage identification. People at different stages might reach the same conclusion, but Kohlberg was interested in the reasoning process. He was looking for consistency of reasoning across the issues. From his research, Kohlberg (1968) classified moral development into three levels, within which there are six stages, and concluded that there is a relationship between maturity of moral values and maturity of action in ethical dilemmas. He also concluded, like Piaget, that moral

Sex Trafficking in America - Research Paper Example t that this crime has on its victims and the approaches employed by the victims to cope up with the consequences, giving recommendations that would curb the spread and consequences of the crime. Human trafficking has been widely acknowledged as slavery in the modern context. According to Loftus (2011), this comes from people being forcefully, coercively or fraudulently induced to undertake forced bonded labor, forced labor or even forced prostitution. Most of the victims would be lured to the US with a promise for better opportunities to earn money only to find a different scenario when they get there. Of particular focus on this paper would be human trafficking involving forced prostitution referred to as sex trafficking. McCabe and Manian (2010) adopt the United Nationsââ¬â¢ definition of sex trafficking describing it as coercive, forceful or fraudulent induction of an act of commercial sex or a context where the person being inducted into performing such an act would be a minor. The major victims of sex trafficking according to (Kunze, 2010) include the women and children. The sex business in the US operates uniquely in all parts whether urban or rural with the study on sex trafficking by Walters and Davis (2011) observing the presence of internationally trafficked women across the country. Whereas there are sex enterprises operating or incorporated legally, there are those operating illegally behind legal businesses like nail salons or restaurants. Further, the researchers observe the advertisement of sex businesses in varied ways including the print media such as newspapers, periodicals, sex guides and even billboards. The owners of these businesses could be families or prominent persons in local communities including lawyers and judges. Majority of those used in these sex businesses would be foreign citizens trafficked into the US. Loftus (2011) regards human trafficking as the second largest form of global criminal enterprise globally with US Department of

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Essay -- To Kill a Mockingbird Essa
To Kill A Mockingbird Courage, the mental or morale strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty, is displayed in many different ways throughout Harper Leeà ¹s only published novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. To some, the courage manifested by the characters in this book is either offensive, or frivolous, but to those who realize the true meaning of this word, the fortitude and bravery exhibited by certain individuals is considered uncustomary. In fact, To Kill A Mockingbird revolves around courage, as the author of this book describes Jem and Scoutà ¹s (the two main characterà ¹s in the story) childhoods living in Maycomb County, and how, as they grow older , they learn to realistically define heroism. To distinct courage in this book however, is not an easy task to accomplish, for typically, courage is displayed in the smallest or most unnoticeable fashions. à à à à à In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus, a man who provides the morale guidelines in the story, and also Scout and Jemà ¹s father, demonstrates courage in a variation of different ways, but the biggest of all the tasks that he had to overcome was when he was given the opportunity to defend Tom Robinson in court. Atticus did not treat this litigation such as any other case that he had ever dealt with before, for he new that this one would most likely change his life. The reason: Tom Robinson was a Negro. At the time, segregation was very common among the citizens of his town, and therefore he knew that he stood no chance in winning this indictment, especially based upon the fact that Robinson was charged with a transgression such as rape. Atticus was courageous in this situation for many different reasons, but mainly because he stood up for what he believed in; in this case it was that blacks should have equal rights as whites in a court of law. A quote that fascinated me while reading this book was: à ³Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win.à ²(p76) Atticus was the one to have said this, showing his acknowledgment of the fact that he was going to be on the losing end of the lawsuit. Still, he prepared for this case, willingly putting his heart into it, disregarding the insults and attacks thrown in his direction by white supremacists. Although he lost, he came out victorious in the end, as he receiv... ...asing the amount of time that she was spending without taking the drug. Eventually, by the time that Jem was no longer obligated to read, she had accomplished her goal; she was going to be free when she died, as she did kick her habit. A suffering and feeble woman going a month without consuming a drug that she has been addicted to for over five years is undeniably courageous. Mrs. Dubose could easily have died taking morphine to soothe her pain, but instead she did what in her mind was right, suffering for a month on earth, permitting her to be untroubled for eternity in heaven. à à à à à à à à à à Defending a Negro, resisting the temptation of fighting, and kicking a morphine addiction. All three of these acts of courage can somehow relate to the quote: à ³Real courage is when you know youà ¹re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.à ²(p112) This quotes continues, implying that you rarely win, but sometimes you do, such as in Mrs. Duboseà ¹s case. In both Atticus and Scoutà ¹s cases though, they lost, but neither winning nor losing is important, as long as inside you know you have done the right thing.

Groupon Analysis
1. Research process As the secondary data on evaluation of customers in Vietnam with regard to groupon are not available, the method to be used in this study is almost research employing a combination of qualitative and quantitive approaches. Problems de? nition Quantitive research Research design Qualitative research Questionnaire online survey Sampling Fieldwork Data analysis Managerial implications Figure : the stages of customers evaluation research Normally the starting point of any research process is the research problem and research objectives. The next stage is to design plans of getting information of both quantitive and qualitative ? gures. Then the the objectives transform in to questionnaire. In the survey both quantitive and qualitative questions are used. Multiple choices with scale measure is used on the other hand question with open answers are use to identify the quantitive problems. Information to be obtained should be determined prior to the building of questionnai re. Table 1 shows how information is to be collected. Each variable have 5 question to determine. Variables Reliability! Who to ask Customer! What to get How is the customer valuation of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s reliability ! How is the customer valuation of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s responsibility!! How is the customer valuation of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s assurance! How is the customer valuation of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s empathy! ! How is the customer valuation of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s tangibles! Responsibility Customer Assurance Customer Empathy! Customer! Tangibles Customer! The next step after questionnaires were designed and sampled, ? eldwork was executed that involved the completion and return of questionnaire. Data analysis can start after the returned questionnaire were checked. Finally, the research process ends with the most important part that is the managerial implications. 2. Quantitative study The purpose of the quantitative study is to identify the relat ionship between 5 factors reliability, responsibility, assurance, empathy and tangibles and the quality of groupon companiesââ¬â¢s services. The details about sampling, data collection and data analysis methods are described in the next part. a. Sampling â⬠¢ Sample size: a sample of 390 people was drawn from residents living or working in some districts in Hanoi and some part of districts 1 Ho Chi Minh city. 90 people answered some question to classify in 3 groups which are the people have used groupon service, the people never use groupon service but they know about it and the people never use groupon and do not know anything about it. As expected, 50 percents of people who were asked to do survey are student because large number of people who use groupon to buy product and services is low income people; 30 percents of that is white collar worker the reason is that they have to work with computer and internet in plenty hours in a day and they want to buy product with low cos t lso and the last group of people the survey focusing on is housewives which is have 20 percents in total sample. Sample should include both women and men, belonging to 5 groups of age (from 18 years old to over 55 years old). â⬠¢ Selection criteria: the selection criteria for those participating in the study were age (between 18 and over 55 years old), income ( at least more than 1 million Vietnam dong per month), ability to use computer and the internet ( because almost all groupon companies are working base on internet environment). In addition, respondents should not be acquaintances of each other because they can share the same attitude about some services and companies. b. Data collection The questionnaire consists of 25 questions to determine 25 items which belong to 5 factors. These factors were developed from the study model Serqual . The Likert ? ve-point scale was used for those items that aimed to measure consumerââ¬â¢s evaluation and felling. â⬠¢ Factors 1: r eliability have 5 questions which were designed to explore customerââ¬â¢s belief â⬠¢ Factors 2: responsibility was aimed to ? d out the felling of customers about responsibility of the companies whether they can respond the requirement of customer immediately or with some delays. This factor was determined by 5 questions â⬠¢ Factor 3: Assurance is the factor which have 5 question to measure the security of the companiesââ¬â¢s service. â⬠¢ Factor 4: empathy use 5 question to explore if the staff of companies try to help and understand customer or not. â⬠¢ Factor 5: tangible have 5 question to determine like the last 4 factor. Those question use to evaluate the appearance of the companies such as the website, voucher or uniforms of staffs.Every question uses multiple choices with ? ve-point scale from 1-5 which mean terrible, poor, average, very good and excellent. The questionnaire was translate into Vietnamese and pre-test on 5 respondents to ensure the correct understanding and the ease of answering. Pretest results were satis? ed. The questionnaire were distributed to 730 persons in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city via online survey which is designed by Google and send by email, direct message and social networking(Facebook, Twitter). (Appendix Phu luc bang hoi )Of 730 person sent survey 390 returned result, of which 163 were usable (163 respondents use groupon as the media to shopping). The valid questionnaire must (1) not having more than ? ve missing values; (2) not selecting all ââ¬Å"1â⬠or all ââ¬Å"5â⬠for all questions. The distribution of questionnaires and the collections of returned ones were carried out from 8th October to 20th October 2012. c. Data analysis Answers from the respondents were reviewed for completion and usefulness. Accepted questionnaire were coded and the raw data input in the SPSS package version 20 for Mac.The reliability of measurement scales was evaluated using Cronbachââ¬â¢s alpha value. A scal e is reliable if the alpha is higher than 0. 6. Descriptive analysis is used to describe the variables in term of frequency. Due to the small size sample, subgroup analysis is not meaningful. Analysis variance (ANOVA) or cross tabulation results therefore were not used. The lis of codi? ed variables is shown in Appendix phu luc cac bien Factor analysis was used to reduce the number of variables and to identify the underlying common dimensions.Factor scores were then analyzed using multiple regressions, through linear relationships between a dependent variable and various independent variables (predictors) were determined. 3. Results 3. 1 Sample pro? le Groupon-buying discount products or services online are consumed by a large number of population due to the development of the internet past 10 years. Sample includes 46 men and 117 women, aged from 18 to over 18 years old with the majority being the age group of 18-24 years old. Of 162 respondents 20. 2% using groupon for their work, 64. 4% using for their personal purpose and 15. % using groupon to buy products and services for both purposes which are personal and work. More than 60% of people who are asked have a low income which is less than 5 million Vietnam dong per month, it can be reasonable when most of groupon customer have a low income and it may explain that price is very importance when they decide to buy somethine. And a large number of the respondents are student which are a young generation. They can easily using internet and modern way of shopping. For the statistical purpose all variables were described in term of frequencies (percentage) and average values (means). Finding related to customerââ¬â¢s evaluation and felling are summarized in tables. a. ! How customers trust groupon companies services in Vietnam, those thing can show up by some factors such as the quality of products what companies guaranteed and the punctuation of delivery. Consequently, the result will show how customer believe in companies and their goods. Groupon companies always sale all product w ith a very cheap price so this factor explore how is the customerââ¬â¢s belief. The respondents accepted and trust those companies. b. How customers evaluate the responsibility of Vietnamese groupon companies: Online shopping is very different from traditional shopping because clients can pay money and have goods or services immediately so that responsibility is a very important factor to rate ? rmsââ¬â¢s qualities. It can be seen that customer evaluate ? rmââ¬â¢s after sale service is poor .It is probably due to many groupon companies in Vietnam think that responsibility which is taking care customers after they had bought products and service belong to suppliers, they only have to sale goods. It may lead to 47,9% of respondent thinks ? rmââ¬â¢s responsibilities are terrible and poor. Table : Response to companiesââ¬â¢s responsibility Percentage (n=163) Terrible/ poor 7. How customer rate companiesââ¬â¢s assura nce: Not as tradition transactions, online shopping should have a more secure transaction. Most of payments for groupon company are electronic payment which have many potential risk. As the result keep customersââ¬â¢s personal and payment data is very essential.Vietnamese people do not care much about security but in the modern life but when credit card, online wallet etcâ⬠¦ are becoming more popular everyday it has to be a factor to evaluate service qualities Table : Customer evaluation of transaction assurance Percentage (n=163) Terrible/ poor 12. It is believed that respondents rate this factor pret ty good. d. How companies and their staff empathize customers: This factor was designed to uncover customerââ¬â¢s felling about companiesââ¬â¢s empathy. There is an idiom that ââ¬Å"customers are always rightâ⬠so that communication between sellers and their customers is very importance . Those 5 questions explore how respondent think about staff attitude and empathy. How is the tangibles of companies: Although almost all groupon companies do not impress their customer by a fancy shop or building but there are some aspects to evaluate their tangibles such as their vouchers and websites whether they are beautiful or ease of recognizing. Respondents think that about these 2 things groupon companies do well and they probably appreciate that. However there is a aspect having a low evaluation by respondents which is staffsââ¬â¢s uniform. It can be a result of companies category which is online company because of that they do not think staffââ¬â¢s uniform is the serious problem. High Medical Bills Should Not Reduce The Cost Of Living Essay
In 2007, nearly six million senior citizens in America faced the threat of hunger. Today more than 9.3 million seniors over the age of 60 are struggling with hunger and the numbers are continually rising (Schilling, 2010). Many of our nationââ¬â¢s seniors live on limited incomes and have tremendous difficulty in making ends meet. Staples such as eggs, bread and milk costs are rapidly rising. Utility costs are soaring. Many seniors are finding themselves paying more for medical care and many are finding themselves in financial trouble and cannot keep up with the cost of living. Due to declining health issues, high medical bills greatly reduces their income and some often find themselves choosing between medication and food. Malnutrition is one of the greatest contributors to costly hospital stays and nursing home admissions. In 2014, there were over 4,800 seniors in Scioto County, Ohio over the age of 65 living below the poverty line and facing the threat of hunger (Scioto County Commissioners, 2016). The Community Action Organization (CAO) of Scioto County is an agency that is striving to alleviate the issue of hunger among the elderly in the community by providing home delivered meals to individuals that are homebound through their CAO Senior Nutrition Program (Community Action Organization of Scioto County, 2016). But, a particular candidate key is called as a primary key over the other candidate keys. This primary key is generally a single attribute or a smaller number of attributes. Individual Paper (Policing in America Society Paper) Jesus K. Martes Santos CJA/214 February 27, 2013 Jon Holman Individual Paper (Policing in America Society Paper) In the following paper I will be discuss the Policing in America Society, This paper examines the changing relationships between police and other government agencies, in the context of recent experience between State, Federal and local government departments. The police in the United States forms part of the law enforcing agencies according the Federal law. We will write a custom essay sample on Policing in America Society Paper or any similar topic only for you Order Now Apart from the national police force, there are a number of policing organizations. There are two levels of police in the United States namely the Federal police and the State police. The policing organizations that serve at the Federal level include Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Immigrations and Customs Department (ICE), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and many other Federal Law enforcement agencies. (Betchtel, 1995)à Criminal Justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, or sanctioning those who violate laws with criminal penalties and rehabilitation efforts. Those accused of crime have protections against abuse of investigatory and prosecution powers. The Federal Law enforcement agencies hold their power from the constitution of the United States in Article 1 section 8. Their operations extend beyond the State borders, for instance, the FBI have the authority to apprehend an offender who has gone beyond the boundaries of the State and the country. The State level policing organizations are divided into three basic categories: State Troopers, who are sometimes referred to as the State police, county sheriffs and the city police. State police, under the laws that govern the State have the policing authority across the whole of the State (Wadman, 2009). However, their jurisdiction is only limited to patrol areas and facilities that are under the State level authorities. Such areas include government buildings within the State and highways. County sheriffs are limited to operating within unincorporated areas, but are they have no policing authority within the city. City police have the power to serve within the cities and they are restricted to only serving in the cities (Marks, 2009). The relationship between the police and government is determined by the level of the police organization. Federal policing organizations are subject to being controlled by the congress and have the responsibility of going after tax-related laws and criminals who operate between the States. State policing organizations are under the control of the State government. They are subject to the limitations of the State law. This implies that the State policing organizations are under the Federal police organizations (Marks, 2009). The sovereignty of the State and the sovereignty of the Federal government play a significant role in determining the relationship between the policing organizations in the US and the government. Despite limitations in the constitution in terms of State sovereignty, there have been scenarios whereby the different policing levels have clashed due to a different State and Federal interests (Walker, 2010). Grouping policing organizations basing on Federal and State levels questions the unity between the State government and the Federal government. The restrictions in terms areas of operation by the policing organization does not enhance efficiency in policing. This poses the risk of increase of criminal activities, being attributed to the inefficiency of the policing organizations. State priorities can be different from the Federal priorities in one way or another. Such differences can be extended to the policing organizations. Such conflicts are not health in law enforcement practices (Kelling, 2002). Usually, the division that exists between the State law and the Federal law is confusing, the gravity of the crime is usually downplayed on grounds of interstate crime, an instance is a murder crime which occurs within the state can be considered as state crime, on a similar account, petty crimes involving the crossing of the state boundaries can be termed as state crime. The divisions are also making the government to focus more on interstate crime than local crime. The government is concentrating more on the Federal Law enforcement agencies at the expense of local police who play a pivotal role in combating crime at the grass root (Betchtel, 1995). That means the relationship between local and federal authorities combating the crime bring only division and focus only in budgets and no the real problem. Development Of Children Essay Example For Students
Development Of Children Essay Infants grow at a very rapid rate during the first one and a half years of life. Their development is not only physical, it is also mental, emotionally, andsocial. These developments are the blue prints for further development in life. During development, there are three basic developmental laws. The first one isthe babys development in the head region, followed by the upper body, followed by the trunk portion, and lastly the legs and feet. For example, a babycan hold up their heads first before they can grab an object with their hand. We will write a custom essay on Development Of Children specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The second law is the babys motor skills. Motor skills are the childsability to control movement. There are two basic types of motor skills; they arelarge motor skills and fine motor skills. Large motor skills deal with all thelarge muscles, fine motor skills deal with smaller muscles in the body. The 3rddevelopmental law is Brain development. As the brain develops, a child respondsmore and more to sight and sound. Babies are born having some sort of reflexesin order for them to adapt to their surroundings. In the first 2 weeks afterbirth, infants develop some new reflexes. Babies begin to explore their graspingreflex where they can hold tightly to an object. A lot of these behaviors areimportant for a childs survival, without these a child would not be able tophysically develop. The absence of reflexes in a newborn is signals of possibleproblems in brain development. A babys attention span is very limited. In thefirst two months, they can only focus on an edge of an object, however by theend of the 2nd month they can see a whole object. Newborns can hear soft voicesas well as loud voices and can also notice differences between different soundsthat are made. When babies hear someone talking they are inclined to open theireyes wider and look for the speaker. Infants love the sounds of children sincetheir voices are in a high pitch. This is why they like to hear babytalk Cognitive thinking development is the reasoning and logic of aninfant. The first 18 months of development is the sensory motor. In this stageinfants develop basic units of knowledge. During this stage infants can formthese units only when objects are present. They cannot think about missingobjects because they cant act on them. When a very young infant sees anabject and then looks away, the infant thinks the object is no longer there. They do not have the concept of knowing its there, if its out of sight. Infants will begin to develop the idea of permanent objects at around 4 months. Also, at this part of life they are beginning to learn that a disappearingobject can still exist. Infants between 4- 8 months will follow a moving objectwith their eyes until it has vanished, but they dont search for it. Fromabout 8-12 months infants for the first time will search manually for an objectthat disappears out of their sight. Social and emotional teaching is animportant concept for parents to be aware of. A nurturing environment can buildtrails that encourage emotional stability, while repeated stress may causeproblems further in development. Infants learn from the people around them themost. Infants learn how to handle a situation through what other people aredoing. During the first hour after birth an emotional tie begins. From an earlyage infants are alert to the people around them. They prefer to look at childrenand at attractive faces. Infants also communicate through their feelings bycrying and screaming. From 0-4 months babies show the majority of their emotionsthr ough crying. Also they can communicate that they want to be alone by turningaway and sucking their thumbs. A baby that smiles and is looking around isgenerally showing signs that they want to interact with others. Not respondingto an infants emotional sign can slow down their social development. Itsat this point that they also develop a sense of trust. This strong sense oftrust establishes their trust for a lifetime. Without this a baby may haveproblems communicating with others later on in their development. Often at 5through 7 months infants develop a sense of fear or shyness of strangers, whichis completely naturally. Infants at this age will sometimes cling to theirparents and will not want to be touched by people who they see as beingunfamiliar. From 0-4 months babies show the majority of their emotions throughcrying. They have many cries in which they show different emotions. From 4-8months infants begin to express a wider range of emotions. Pleasure, happiness, fear, and frust ration are shown through gurgles, cools, and wails. They alsoshow movements such as kicking, arm waving, rocking and smiling. From 8-18months they develop a sense of self. They begin to recognize their image in amirror and start to become more and more independent. Babies at this stage havea wide range of emotional states. One minute they could be happy and playing andthe next minute they could be kicking and screaming. Moral development beginsearly in an infants life. Moral develop depends on the type of training andattention an infant gets through its parents. If they are disciplinedearly enough in age they will grow up knowing things that are right and wrong. .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .postImageUrl , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:hover , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:visited , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:active { border:0!important; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:active , .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584 .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc489047f7ba7439285887782ffcaf584:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Multiculturalism In Canada EssayIf a parent ignores a child and lets them think that the bad things are ok todo, they grow up having no morals taught through their parents. Children mostlikely will first learn to respond to the words such as no and hot. There are 3 stages to moral development. These are preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. Moral development begins withpreconventional thinking, which children obey in order to avoid punishment. Whatdetermines a childs position in these stages is weather or not they choosewhat they have done is right or wrong. Speech development beings within thefirst week after birth. A childs first form of communication is crying. Crying is a babys way of usually saying that they are hungry, tired, or needtheir diaper changed. By 3 months babies begin all the gurgles and woos. This is the beginning of their development of vowel sounds. By the age of 5 to 6months most babies will begin to babble and may even slip out the wordsma, or da. Although a baby might say these words, they cant tiethem to a certain person. 10-15 months toddlers can understand a few more words. Names and objects that they hear often are the most easily understood. The mostcommon of these words are mama, dada, cookie, doggy, and car. At this stage incommunication babies also learn inflection, which is raising your voice whenasking a question. At 18-24 months their vocabulary has increased and toddlersare most likely to repeat any word they hear. Their vocabulary may include asmany as 200 words or more. From this stage on they begin to put words togetherand can eventually speak a sentence. There are many factors that also contributeto the development of a child. Many things can slow down the development such aslow birth weight, being premature and drug use. Birth weight is an importantfactor associated with an infants overall development and health. Childrenwho were born under 5 Ã ½ pounds are more likely to have serious medicalproblems and to also have developmental delays.
